Motivatsiya akademik muvaffaqiyatga asosiy hissa qo'shuvchi omillardan biri hisoblanadi, ayniqsa, maqsadli til hamjamiyati bilan kam aloqada bo'lgan chet tillarini o'rganish darslarida. Buning sababi shundaki, yuqori motivatsiyaga ega talabalar o'rganishga tayyor bo'lishadi va darsda o'zlarini jalb qilishadi, bu ularga til o'rganishda muvaffaqiyat qozonishga yordam beradigan ko'proq ma'lumot olish imkonini beradi. Shuning uchun, motivatsiya talabalarning qobiliyatlarini yaxshi bajarishga undaydigan ichki kuch sifatida qaraladi. Biroq, shuni ta'kidlash kerakki, chet tilini o'rganishda motivatsiya murakkab, chunki har bir til talabasi sinfga turli darajadagi motivatsiya bilan kiradi, bu esa o'qituvchilardan o'z ehtiyojlari va maqsadlariga erishishga yordam berish uchun darsni loyihalashda ijodiy bo'lishni talab qiladi.
