The article analyzes the scientific and theoretical foundations for developing the
professional and information competence of future teachers. The aim of the study is to
define the essence of this competence, identify its structural components, and
theoretically substantiate the pedagogical conditions necessary for its formation. The
study employs comparative literature analysis, systemic and competency-based approaches, modeling, and generalization. As a result, a four-component structure of
professional and information competence is proposed, comprising motivational-value,
knowledge-cognitive, technological-activity, and reflective-evaluative components. A
three-level system of assessment criteria and the pedagogical conditions for developing
this competence are also proposed. The findings of the article can be applied to curriculum
design in higher education institutions specializing in teacher education.
