The article examines the methodological potential of using podcasts to develop the
vocabulary of B1-level students at higher education institutions in Uzbekistan. It substantiates the relevance of incorporating authentic audio materials into Russian
language teaching based on communicative and competency-based approaches. The
criteria for selecting podcasts, the stages of working with them, and a system of exercises
aimed at developing receptive and productive vocabulary are described. Particular
attention is paid to contextual vocabulary acquisition, repeated exposure to lexical items,
speech activity, and students’ independent learning. The article concludes that, when used
within a methodologically structured framework, podcasts enhance motivation, develop
listening comprehension skills, and contribute to sustained vocabulary expansion. These
materials can be effectively integrated into both classroom and extracurricular learning
activities.
