STRUCTURAL AND SEMANTIC FEATURES OF ENGLISH AND UZBEK IDIOMS: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

This article presents a comparative analysis of the structural and semantic features
of idioms in English and Uzbek. The study examines the grammatical structure,
component composition, degree of stability, and mechanisms underlying the formation of
figurative meanings in idiomatic expressions. Furthermore, it identifies semantic
correspondences, structural similarities, and differences between idiomatic units in the
two languages. Through comparative analysis, the article highlights the significant role of
lexical components and language-specific characteristics in the formation of idiomatic
meaning. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of both universal and
national-specific features of English and Uzbek phraseology.
