A student who knows the rules of a programming language by heart but does not
know where to begin when faced with a real-world problem represents a common
challenge in computer science and information technology classes. This article
investigates ways to bridge this gap through Project-Based Learning (PBL). Based on a
comparative review of international and domestic studies, including recent meta-analyses, a six-stage project cycle model is proposed. To assess the development of
practical programming skills, a three-level assessment scale based on algorithmic,
technological, diagnostic, and communicative-reflective criteria has been developed. The
findings can be used by computer science and information technology teachers,
methodologists, and specialists in professional development systems.
