IMPROVING THE METHODOLOGY FOR DEVELOPING STUDENTS' INDEPENDENT THINKING COMPETENCE IN THE DIGITAL EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT Sultonova Shahnoza Yusuf qizi

Aim — to experimentally verify and refine a methodological approach that helps
develop students' independent thinking competence in a digital educational environment.
Methods — design-based research, survey, ANOVA and SEM were applied; the study
involved N=96 students divided into experimental and control groups. In the diagnostic
stage, an entry test captured the initial state, in the formative stage a set of digital tasks,
problem-based assignments and tasks oriented toward independent work was
introduced, and in the control stage the exit test and survey were repeated. Results — the
baseline difference between the groups was not significant, p=0.712, which confirmed
comparable starting conditions before the intervention. After the formative impact, the
experimental group showed medium and large changes; Cohen d=0.76 and d=0.94
indicate a pronounced pedagogical effect of the methodology. In the discussion, the SEM-
derived links showed a stable association between students' independence in completing
digital tasks and the activity of their thinking. Conclusion — the proposed methodology
provides a practical basis for stepwise development of independent thinking competence;
its scientific contribution lies in a clarified experimental model that combines competence
measurement and formation in a digital setting.
