THE NEED TO DEVELOP PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS’ SPEECH COMPETENCE IN THE CONTEXT OF INTEGRATING INTERNATIONAL EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE INTO THE NATIONAL EDUCATION SYSTEM

Ensuring the competitiveness of the education system, developing modern
competencies among students, and assessing the quality of education according to
international criteria are becoming increasingly important pedagogical tasks. Adapting
advanced international practices to the national education system and using them effectively contribute to the development of new pedagogical approaches. This article examines the need to develop primary school students’ speech competence in the context
of integrating international educational experience into the national education system. It
also analyzes aspects of international assessment programs such as PISA and PIRLS that
are related to the development of speech competence.
